Monica Rivadeneira's previous career before Permaculture Design, was in healthcare as a registered nurse in the U.S.  In 2010, she received her Urban PDC (Permaculture Design Certificate) with Larry Santoyo of the City of Angels Permaculture Academy. and later completing a second PDC with Geoff Lawton of The Permaculture Research Institute of Australia , in 2013.  In December 2016, Monica also recieved her Teacher Training Certificate from another inspiring pioneer in Permaculture, Robyn Francis at Permaculture College Australia, Djanbung Gardens NSW Australia. Monica has been executing her own design on her property (Eagle Condor Farm) as well as teaching, volunteering and consultation/designing for other properties in Ecuador since 2012.

*An "Iachak" is someone who embodies and shares the wisdom of his tradition for the benefit of others, acting as spiritual guide, healer and leader of the community.

He generously shares ancient Andean wisdom and practices with people who seek happiness, balance and fulfillment. In his newly released book, Friendship with the Elements: Opening the Channels of Communication, Don Alverto invites us to connect with the elements of nature—Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and the 5th balancing element known as the Ushai. Through simple habits and practices in daily life, he teaches us to feel the sacredness of each moment and every place.

Don Alverto's way is powerful and gentle. He creates a space where each person can experience for themselves the truth and practical applications of the ancient Andean wisdom which he brings.

These teaching programs penetrate deeply, shattering cultural and genetic programming, enabling us to move with power and grace into the times to come. As Alverto's students, we take a quantum leap, fulfilling the prophecy that in these times the Eagle (mind) and the Condor (heart) will fly in the same sky.

Don Alverto has been sharing this wisdom for 17 years in the United States and Europe. He was given this responsibility in 1989 at a great gathering of Andean Elders.

Don Alverto has been a speaker at schools and universities, international conferences, political rallies, and native celebrations. He has spoken to audiences of 600 and more, as diverse as South American natives and North American medical professionals, on topics ranging from, "Preparing for Globalization" to "Ancient Andean Practices and their Application to Western Medicine."

During a strike that paralyzed Ecuador, he performed an integral role in negotiating a settlement that respected the basic rights of indigenous people. He is the co-author of three books, "An invitation from the Andes", "Friendship with the Elements: Opening the Channels of Communication" (LittleLight Press, 2005 Don Alverto's second book & in English), and "Reconnecting with our Indigenous Heart".
